Its that day again.
The day where almost all couples dine at expensive restaurants, receive/give flowers, chocolates, teddy bears and cards with red hearts splashed all over the cover.
Yes, the word tacky comes to mind. But hey, theses gifts/activities has become synonymous with Feb 14. Yes, and this is a highly developed country we live in. Pfft.
So brace yourself because I guarantee you will run into several cutesy girls/women with stalks of red/pink/white flowers and teddy bears in hand. Oh god, the cliche is KILLING me.
This reminds me of a conversation I had with the mum.
Mum: Are you going out Feb 14? I think FTBF and you should go for a nice meal and do something out of the norm
Me: *looks at her in disbelief* Don't tell me even you have been suckered into this Feb 14 crap?
Mum: *looks back at me in disbelief* Can you pls act your age and not be so critical of everything?
Me: *looks bored* No.
Mum: I refuse to talk to you, I shall ask FTBF instead.
The next day, the following conversation took place without me.
Mum: Hey, I was telling Rekha yesterday that two of you should go some place nice for dinner and do something out of the ordinary on Feb 14.
FTBF: Huh? But Auntie..must meh?
Mum: *in utter disbelief* Oh my god, how boring are the two of you?
FTBF: Aiyah Auntie..its no big deal really...its just another day..Right? Besides, it'll be so crowded everywhere.
Mum: *shakes her head* Okay lor, fine. Good to know both of you are on the same page. *continues tsk-ing*
It tickles me that we are vehemently against Feb 14. But on the other hand, it leads me to wonder..are we REALLY a boring couple? No, Can't be! Errr... can't be... right?
